Winterfest
- Winterfest which is always held President’s Day weekend in February. There is ice carving demonstrations by Master Ice Carver Bill Sandusky, illuminated ice sculptures, an ice bowling alley and slide, snowmobile races, wine tastings, a kick-off reception at Oakland Volunteer Fire Department and a Progressive Dinner.
Deep Creek Dunk
- It’s not just an event – it’s an experience that has become a winter-time tradition for thousands of warm-hearted Dunkers! And it all benefits Maryland’s children and adults with intellectual disabilities, as they enjoy the life-changing benefits of participating with Special Olympics Maryland.

Garrett County Celtic Festival
- The traditions of Highland music, games, and dance come alive at the McHenry Highland Festival! Visit the Clan tents and Celtic vendors. Kiss the highland cattle, watch the collies herd sheep, or pat an Irish Wolfhound. Join us for a weekend of Celtic celebrations– for young and old alike–in the scenic highlands of Western Maryland at Friendsville Community Park
Grantsville Days
- A family homecoming the last full weekend in June. Non-profit food booths and craft/novelty booths, free entertainment, kid rides. Friday parade and fireworks. Saturday tractor pull contest, games and fireworks. Saturday and Sunday Lions chicken BBQ. Sunday free entertainment and truck pull contest.

Fire on the Mountain Fireworks Display
- The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce presents the annual Fire on the Mountain Fireworks Display, sponsored by NLP of Maryland, LLC. Fireworks launched from the top of Bear Claw Tubing Park at Wisp Resort out toward the waters of Deep Creek Lake.
Garrett County Agriculture Fair
- Musical entertainment; Carnival Rides, Games & more! Something for everyone.
Western Maryland Tennis Championships
- The Western Maryland Championships are the oldest sanctioned tournament in the state. We encourage players of all abilities to participate. With 17 divisions as well as players who range from nationally ranked to family members who play for fun, you are sure to find your match in our tournament.

Garrett County Airport Wings and Wheels Fly In
- Come enjoy static displays of Airplanes, Classic Cars and Emergency Vehicles. RC Aircraft Demonstrations. Scenic rides available. Food provided by local vendors.

Deep Creek Lake Art & Wine Festival
- The annual Deep Creek Lake Art & Wine Festival, benefiting HART and GLAF, features beautifully handcrafted works by local and regional artisans, wine tasting from over 200 Maryland and national wineries, live music, children’s activities, wine pairing dinners, lodging packages, and more.

Autumn Glory Festival
- Garrett County’s most famous event. The annual Autumn Glory Festival landed in the international spotlight in 2007, when the popular travel website, msn.com listed it tops among fall festivals in the world.
November
Festival of Trees, Garrett County
- Designer decorated trees, wreaths, centerpieces, and gingerbread houses are on exhibit, and will be auctioned in the Grand Finale Auction. Bring the kids to Breakfast with Santa and then Frosty’s Funland for Santa’s Bakery, crafts, or mail a letter to Santa. Proceeds benefit the Dove Center.
